Lecture
This course deals with the principles of heredity and variation from the gene and chromosomal basis of heredity to the Mendelian and non-Mendelian genetics. It includes classical genetic analysis methods and biometrical treatment of qualitative and
quantitative characters of both plants and animals. Human genetic traits and disorders are also discussed as well as genetic applications in plant and animal breeding and the problems involved therein. It also covers genetic engineering and moral and
ethical issues associated with it.
